For globetrotters who are stranded in Hamburg for a while for a project, interim mandate or job delegation etc. and are looking for a fine "feel-good oasis". The house exudes patina and ambience - a special pearl beyond the mainstream. It is a detached single house that offers a lot of privacy with a beautiful garden.

It is suited for couples, families (with and without children) as well as for a project team (3 individual bedrooms/workrooms with common area).

Why is the house called Captain' s House? The owner went to sea as a captain for over 50 years, lived here and brought back all sorts of inspirations & found objects from his travels around the world into the house.

On the first floor there is an inviting high quality American style eat-in kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a Nespresso machine, refrigerator/freezer, oven, stove and dishwasher. A counter with 3 bar stools allows guests to entertain the chef or cook while cooking or simply enjoying beautiful views of the garden.

The kitchen counter separates the kitchen from the open dining area with comfortable seating. The antique high quality dining table with seating for 5 can be extended with an insert top to host 8 persons.

From the kitchen you have access to the terrace and the beautiful sunny garden. The terrace has a size of round about 40 sqm and part of it is covered. The garden is really a small gem. Hamburg is famous for its "Schietwetter" - rainy days in the local dialect - and even then you may sit pleasantly protected on the covered terrace and relax. At night you might spot the stars.

The living room leads off from the dining area. The living room is one of the highlights of the house. It is very spacious with almost 50 m2 and allows relaxed views of the garden through the large, floor-to-ceiling sliding doors.

A convivial spot is the bar, which the captain brought with him from Asia. Here you can mix delicious cocktails and enjoy the view into the garden or in the evening into the fireplace. The vintage wall unit gives the room a dignified coziness.

The entire first floor is covered with Canadian maple parquet. There is a small guest toilet on the first floor off the entrance hallway.

On the upper floor with cozy sloping ceilings are three atmospheric rooms. In the entire upper floor, the floor is equipped with atmospheric oak planks. Walls and ceilings are painted white. Upscale furnishings in all rooms.

Two rooms are about 18 m2, one room is about 10 m2. Two rooms have a beautiful garden view, one room has a large window facing the street to the east.

The equipment of the larger rooms: built-in wardrobes, large beds with new mattresses (120x200 or 160x200), armchair or sofa, desk with comfortable chair or hand-painted vintage secretary with fold-out desk and drawers, dimmable ambient lighting, shutters.

The smallest room upstairs is furnished with a hand-painted wooden vintage secretary with drawers, desk chair, armchair with side table and a room-in-the-box bed (100x190) with comfortable new mattresses. Furthermore, there is shelving and clothes rail for storage.

The small daylight bathroom has just been top renovated and has a walk-in, ground-level rain shower, toilet and a washbasin furniture with countertop sink, anti-frog mirror and a beautiful oak top with tree edge. The washing machine can be found here.

Location
The Captain's House in the northwest of Hamburg is located in a quiet side street and yet centrally located. Closeby, the Niendorfer Gehege invites you for walks and sports activities of any kind.

With direct access to the A7 and A23 (Hamburg-Schnelsen). Airport (8 km), City (12 km).

Metrobus line 5 and many other lines are within walking distance (approx. 35 minutes via the districts of Niendorf, Eppendorf, Rothenbaum to Hamburg City). Or get on the U2 in Niendorf Markt to continue your journey. Around 10 bus lines are within walking distance.

The French Lycée Francais de Hambourg Antoine Saint-Exupéry is only 5 km away.

Various shopping facilities are located in the village center of Schnelsen (about 10 min walk). In walking distance there are supermarkets. Ikea Schnelsen Nord is not far away.
